Special Projects
The Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center and the Board of Fire and Life Safety actively support projects and research intended to enhance fire fighter knowledge and safety. Beginning in 2003 the ESTC has worked with the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Under Writers Laboratories, State Farm Insurance, The Fire Sprinkler Association and private companies on numerous projects involving live full scale burns. The research has covered such areas as positive pressure ventilation, building collapse, effects of fire on light weight floor construction, effects of fire on photo voltaic arrays and residential sprinkler side by side burns. Research conducted at the ESTC has supported numerous reports, journal articles, online training and live seminars. The finished information can be found at NIST.gov/fire and UL University as well as in Fire Engineering and Fire House magazines.
